Taxi driver serious after assault

A TAXI driver suffered severe head injuries in an assault in Melbourne's CBD overnight.
Police said the cabbie, in his late 20s, was attacked at the corner of Bourke and Queen streets about 3am (AEDT) today.
A Metropolitan Ambulance Service spokesman (MAS) said he was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
